It’s been a few weeks since we shared an update on the latest AI-powered design tools, which is about a decade in AI-years.

Some of the most impressive new features come from Canva – the tool that has become many marketers’ go-to suite for social content, and a lot more. They bundled the updates in an announcement called “Droptober,” and there’s a lot to unpack.

Here are the most interesting changes you’ll see the next time you log into your Canva dashboard:

Not to be outdone, Midjourney launched an image editor that you can use to modify any image, ranging from high resolution to pencil sketches.

Meanwhile, Stable Diffusion is now producing the largest image files among the AI tools – its new model can output images that are up to 1 megapixel. They also announced improvements that will ensure a more diverse representation of people in their images.

And finally, this is a small one, but it may be the most useful to social media managers: Instagram is adding an image expander for Stories that will allow you to expand landscape images to fill the vertical 9:16 aspect ratio.
